Yes…I know it’s February! 🙂
But I wanted to give you all an overview of what 2016 looked like for SmartSpace Interiors, as it was a crazy but amazing year. As-well-as call out a couple of keepers from 2016…
From a business perspective, it was an important year for me as it marked 5 years of being in business. Any business owner will tell you that it’s an important milestone as you’ve survived and developed a business / offering that people can and do get behind. So, I feel very happy and blessed by that…so thanks to all my lovely clients. And it also marked my winning the coveted Best of Houzz 2017 award for Service, three years in a row!!!
Although there were many, my high point for the year was completing my biggest project to date: the Lindfield Home project. I helped my clients with every aspect of the interior design for their new build home. From selecting tiles and finishes for their bathrooms, and laundry, through to an overall design for their kitchen and pantry. I was also involved in specifying feature lighting, flooring, window coverings and paint colours throughout as well as furnishings for several rooms. For more information, check it out here.
It’s hard to pick a favourite, as I love all the projects I work on. However, certainly one of the most challenging projects that really pushed my small space design skills was an Air BnB studio second storey extension I completed for a client in Enmore. This studio also had a fully appointed kitchen (not a kitchenette), walk-in wardrobe, great storage, and a bathroom/laundry. For more information, click here.
2016 also produced some strong trends that are, in my opinion, set to stay for at least 12 months. Like classic patterns in flooring and tiling, such as herringbone. Metal tones are also set to continue with the likes of gunmetal, brasses and golds; I have to say I’m glad to see the back of the copper décor, there was just too much of it!
As for 2017, new collections are anticipated in March, so watch this space. And green is likely to be a big accent colour, as I wrote about in December. As for me, 2017 is already shaping up to be a busy year and I’m looking forward to more exciting projects and designs. So, for any returning or new clients reading this, please be sure to get in quick and book an appointment with me to avoid disappointment.
