Brooklyn Tree Top Home Renovation – Anoushka Allum Design

Nov 14, 2022 | Anoushka's Blog, Interior design and decoration

Hi All! It’s getting to the end of the year and I’ve had a few fantastic projetcs finish up and clients move back in. So we’re photographing at the moment. My Brooklyn project is one of them. I thought I would share with you the before and afters here as well as a bit of a run down on what we wanted to achieve and how we went about it.

This renovation was a pretty straightforward one, there were no real structural issues to focus on so the whole thing was more of a cosmetic update. However the brief for the main bedroom was to create a larger ensuite by removing a wall between a small walk in robe and bathroom to create one large ensuite space. We relocated the robe into the main bedroom as there was plenty of space to play with there.

For the rest of the project it was a matter of renovating another bathroom, powder room, laundry and of course we wanted to optimise the layout in these spaces, especially the main bathroom. We also reworked the kitchen to create a much larger kitchen space with huge island and also a seperate built in pantry. This really made the most of the large open plan living area and now does this space justice.

A colour palette was carried throughout that included plenty of soft greens to work in with the nature surrounding the home especially the gum trees. We also included timbergrain accents through all of the joinery to tie in with the existing flooring and again to work in with the surrounding environment. This is a classic Australian home and I feel that the interiors now reflect this.

This whole project was a pleasure to work on, my clients were amazing at seeing my vision and running with it, whilst injecting their personalities, wants and needs. And working with a local building team where nothing was too much trouble, they handled the whole renovation with ease and grace.
