My 5 favourite furniture pieces for your living room

Feb 4, 2013 | Anoushka's Blog

Hi Guys, I hope you’ve been enjoying my case study series posts, all of these are finished projects by SmartSpace Interiors. I’ll have another one for you in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime I wanted to share with you some of my favourite pieces that I have sourced for clients over the past few months. I’ve chosen to share these pieces with you because I absolutely believe that they will work in an home from a style perspective, and they are both functional and beautiful.

Number 1 – The Nook by Jardan

This is a beautifully made sofa that can come in a modular style or as shown here one straight sofa. This has a gorgeous mid-century feel due to the elegant lines, tapered timber legs and pictured here in the grey adds to the style. You have a choice of fabrics, two choices in depth and numerous lengths and modular configurations to choose from. This also comes in a lovely armchair which would work well in a reading nook. I just love this piece, and have found it can work in several design styles.

Number 2 – Greg Natale’s Corfu rug from his Regency collection

This is a strong statement in the black and white for sure, however the beauty of working with Designer Rugs is that you can customise the colours as much or as little as you need to fit with your interior. This fabulous geometric can be kept bold as pictured here or softened using shades of neutral, and still retain this gorgeous timeless elegance.

Number 3 – Coco Republic Essentials side tables/coffee tables

This collection of timber tables is so flexible depending on what you pair it with in your interior. The timber adds warmth to any space, and with the various choices in terms of sizing, scale isn’t a problem. Again I have used this in a couple of projects and my clients have been extremely pleased with the results.

Number 4 – Matt Blatt plank chair

Again a replica from a mid-century piece this occasional chair works so well with more modern pieces as well as adding to an already established mid-century collection. This comes in several fabric choices to suit your colour palette. If you don’t have a piece that grounds your space this will do it for you with the warmth of the timber frame and the scale of the piece. Recently I piced up similar frames on eBay that had been restored and had seat cushions made for a client, they look superb in situ.

Number 5 –  Sydneyside custom entertainment units

These guys are awesome when it comes to finding something to fit everyone’s space, especially when you’re lacking in storage. From a simple low level free standing unit, through to wall mounted units, cabinetry and shelving you can make this piece as big or small as your space demands. You can choose from several finishes and colours, and everything is installed for you upon delivery. The quality of these pieces are fabulous.
