My lounge room makeover

Nov 2, 2015 | Anoushka's Blog, Interior design and decoration

Hi All,

I’ve mentioned before that the decoration of my home has been an ongoing project. This isn’t something that I ever feel is completely finished. Times change, trends come and go and whilst I try to avoid what’s in right now and stay true to my own personal style colours, patterns, and furniture items do date over time. It’s also hard doing what I do everyday and meeting some wonderful suppliers and their products to not think about my own home as well as my client projects.

Every year I will put a good amount of budget to keeping my home fresh and up to date. Last year I decked out all of my built in robes and replaced all of the old doors, I got rid of some dated wallpaper and replaced it with a more modern paint colour, and I had new blinds installed throughout the whole home.

This year I have had the whole apartment painted, new LED downlights and feature lights throughout, new carpet on the 2nd floor, updated our outdoor area and added to my artwork collection. It’s been quite a year!

I’ve now been living in my home for nearly 7 years so I thought it would be fun to share some images of my lounge room over the years and how it’s changed and evolved into something I’m super happy with now. The final piece fell into place on Friday with the delivery of my new sofa. I’m sure that won’t be all for my apartment but for now I’m feeling proud to call it home.

Happy decorating.

This was 7 years ago. Wow that wallpaper looks so dated now! Also I wasn't 100% happy with the furniture layout.

I then had one of the sofa's reupholstered as I disliked one of the fabrics so much I couldn't live with it anymore.

And once I had done that I took down that terrible wallpaper from the one wall and painted the wall a darker warm grey. i moved the furniture around opening up the space and replaced the rug.

It started to look much brighter and a lot more contemporary

Then I changed up one of the sofa's for 2 chairs and an ottoman, this opened up the space even more, i added in a lighter coffee table and introduced the navy blue with the deep red this is always a winning combo!

My new cushions were from the US and I just love them.

The last phase was to wrap the grey colour around the 2nd wall in the lounge area really defining this space, and at last I've finished it off with a new sofa, something more contemporary and super comfortable too!
