I’m working on a project at the moment where the client is open to using purple as a direction for the design. I’m super excited as this has to be one of my favourite colours to work with. Every shade of purple can be appropriate for different areas of your home, from soft lilacs and deep plums, through to bright and vibrant purples that can add energy to a space. Paired with white, light greys and black this colour can really sing.
In this design we will be painting a wall in a soft purple and then threading this beautiful colour into our room through the rug, fabrics and potentially the artwork. You don’t want to overdo a colour like this. If you love a colour and want to add more than a couple of accent cushions then I suggest choosing two to three larger applications and varying the shade to add interest. Also it’s advisable to ensure that at least one of these applications has texture such as a beautiful linen or a textural rug. Home décor in this colour is easy to find right now as the Pantone colour for 2014 is Radiant Orchi, we’ve seen this colour come through into many of the home retailers.
So get your purple on and check out some of the below inspiration, or click here to take a look at my I Heart Purple inspiration pinboard. And don’t forget to look out for my purple accented design and finished room in the coming weeks.
