It’s been a while since I posted about one of my finished projects. And I just had this wonderful home photographed so thought I would share with you some before and afters and a bit about what we did for this family.

The design and build process can take time, especially as we were working through Covid to deliver this one which was challenging but we managed it and got the clients in before Christmas. I took this client through the design process, we took 3 months to plan, document, cost and then schedule the build in with one of the teams that I work with often so I knew they were in safe hands.

The builder (Butopia) started in August 2021 on the main house with a focus on kitchen, laundry and powder room renovations for the ground floor. On the first floor we designed a floor plan change to make the main bathroom much bigger, we shrunk a spare bedroom to make the walk in robe and ensuite to the main bedroom bigger also. Laying new timber floors were there was carpet and matching that into turpentine that was existing in some rooms, we then stained it all a darker tone to blend the old and the new.

We were finished in the main house in December ready for move in date, returning in January 2022 to finish off the poolhouse which was intended for guests.  Here we created a new kitchenette with wardrobe for storage for longer term guests, and a new shower room which services the pool and the guest house. This space could easily be used for Air BnB if my clients wishes but often will be used for overseas family to come and stay for a month or two at a time.

A colour palette was carried throughout that included plenty of deep blues, soft greens and timber accents. We freshened up areas such as the laundry and kitchenette with white joinery and added in a mixture of v groove and shaker details throughout.

The new main bedroom and ensuite with large walk in robe got a complete make over, with larger footprint, large open shower, good sized main room and 2 areas for wardrobes both in the main room and walk in.

All bedrooms got a face lift with new joinery,  flooring, paint, window coverings, lighting and fans. We also created 2 office spaces as both of my clients work from home.

This whole project was such a pleasure to work on, from design through to seeing the renovation take shape with one of my favourite building teams and the final results. The best part is seeing my clients move in just before Christmas and then have overseas guests visit shortly after, each and every room being utilised and enjoyed.
