Hi Guys. I wanted to share a new project with you this week that we recently completed. This home is a beautiful 3 bed traditional style home based in Rozelle in the inner west of Sydney. The property was in need of a good update, there was so much timber on the floors, walls, cabinetry and beige coloured tile that it all just felt a little 80’s and dated.
We wanted to create more light throughout, especially in the middle part of the house. To do this we opened up the walls between the dining and kitchen area by removing the small laundry. We built a European style laundry into the new kitchen layout and claimed the old laundry space back into the kitchen. This meant a better flow through to the dining room and a lot more light. On top of this we removed a lot of the timber wall panels in the dining area and up unto the stairwell. This not only lightened these areas but bounced more light down into the middle of the home (what was the darkest room).
Along with the above we focused on renovating the back lounge room by removing the tiles and installing new hardwood timber to work with the floors in the rest of the home, and we also renovated the bathroom on the 1st floor and revamped the powder room on the ground floor. We turned an unused front bedroom into an office with guest accommodation when needed. And finally we installed new lighting throughout and new window coverings to tie in with the colour scheme.
Once we had finished with the renovation I worked with my client to furnish each space with a fresh colour palette of grey, white, blues and greens. Green was my clients favourite colour so this needed to be a focus for us. We kept the pieces simple but timeless, adding in a luxury feel with velvet’s in the lounge room and dining room.
The whole downstairs space now feels connected and much lighter than it did. Every room was touched in some way to freshen up and revitalise bringing it up date. I think you’ll agree it’s a home now that is modern, elegant and had a real sense of light and space. I’m so happy with the end result and feel a complete sense of calm when I visit.
